Frequently Asked Questions
What should I expect during our appointment?
This meeting is for you. It's important that you come ready and willing to talk about the things that are important to you, whether that be ministry, personal life, etc. I bring no other agenda to the table other than you, your ministry, and your renewal!
Why should I trust you?Building trust takes time, and for some, that process is longer than others. So take it at your speed. And in the meantime, rest assured of a few things... I will be slow to speak, listen deeply, and ask lots of questions. I will treat you like a human person, not a super-human pastor/leader. I will be relentless in my pursuit of your wholeness in Christ. And, if it's helpful for you to read, I'm humbled by many mentors, colleagues, and former parishioners who have graciously vouched for my heart, experience, and character. I invite you to read their testimonials or learn more about me.
Is this meeting confidential?
Absolutely! I will not disclose any portion of our meeting to anyone - including your family, church, organization, etc. Additionally, I do not report/disclose our meeting details to Standing Stone Ministry. The ONLY exception to this rule is in the event that a pastor/leader confesses to a crime or self-injury, or an intent to commit a crime or self-injury.
Where do we meet?
It's up to you! Coffee shop, restaurant, your office, or mine just NW of downtown Knoxville. It's usually best to pick a place that makes you feel most comfortable and relaxed.
How do phone/video appointments work?
Provide your number on the appointment form, and I'll give you a call during our scheduled meeting time. Skype/Zoom calls also available. It's helpful if you're in a place that is conducive for a private conversation.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
No problem. Your appointment confirmation email will include links to make changes. 24-hour advanced notice is appreciated!
Any last suggestions?
Sure. Try to minimize distractions during our time together. Consider turning devices OFF completely. Take at least 10-15 minutes before our meeting to get quiet with the LORD. Pray. Ask Him for direction on the issues that are near to your heart. Perhaps these will be worth exploring in our meeting. Above all, relax. I'm on your side. I'm here to serve you, encourage you, and champion your renewal!
