Support and Pastoral Care
You provide support and care for others on a constant basis. Who is doing this for you? Who ministers to you? Why should we assume that pastors and leaders don't need this aspect of the body of Christ? You're a human being, just like the rest of us. In fact, given the nature of your ministry role, it's likely you need more support and care than the average individual.Book an appointment (phone appts. also available)
"You're going to wear yourself out... This job is too heavy a burden for you to handle all by yourself." (Exodus 18:18)
Mentoring & Coaching
Pastors and leaders can find themselves caught up in 1 of 2 frames of mind:
I've experienced both of these mindsets in different seasons of ministry. Of course, neither is true. But as you work in the bubble of ministry, unhealthy perspectives can take root. Be vigilant. Ask yourself, "who have I given full permission to speak boldly into my life?" Consider the words of Solomon in Proverbs 9:9.
"Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; teach a righteous man, and he will increase in learning." (Proverbs 9:9)
Pastor/Leader Covenant Groups
Churches provide small groups for their people. You probably lead your group, and have set a tone for community, Bible study, prayer, and spiritual growth. The problem is, you find it difficult to be honest and transparent with the group about your own personal and spiritual life. Not surprising. It's exceedingly hard for a pastor or leader to speak freely without compromising their role in the group.Pastors and Christian leaders need their own covenant group where mutual trust and confidentiality are valued. I'm honored to facilitate them locally here in Knoxville, TN.Sign-up for a Knoxville Pastor/Leader Covenant Group
